Registered Clinical Social Work Intern

Barnika Lamour attended Miami Dade College, earning her Associate’s Degree in Psychology. After completing her Associate, Barnika attended Florida International University to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Barnika has worked at Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center as a Program Support Assistant for the social work department, assisting homeless veterans. While working there, Barnika worked with different programs to assist veterans, such as Social Security Administration, Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and Salvation Army.

While working for the homeless program, she became passionate about serving Veterans and working with the homeless population. During her time off, Barnika volunteered to help make the Lotus House a beautiful environment where the homeless female residents would feel happy to stay while transitioning into a new life by painting and cleaning the buildings. Barnika is an aspiring clinician utilizing culturally appropriate methods and interventions to enhance and improve the lives of those she encounters.
